im not sure of the exact translation of the lyrics but its a generic opera lyric about being miserable i think, although an italian fan could give you a specific translation
p

Here they are! (I hope! )

Miserere!
Sull'orrida torre
par che la morte
con ali di tenebre
librando Si va!

Translation (found on a site):

Have mercy!
Above the dreadful tower
it seems as if death
on wings of darkness
hovers...

(Note that it's an archaic Italian, nobody would talk like that today...)

PS: Suzi, can't we add other questions? Now that I had some smart questions, and on Six!!... :/

I could say we represented ourselves at that gig, but the manics had us on that occasion, they were truely brilliant. 'design for life' really sounded monumental in that enviroment. There were loads of times on our tour with them in europe when we took the title back, as we were quite good at the smaller venues. Saying that, I wasn't on the receiving end of our onslaght at the nynex so can only go on what I felt. Thanks for saying so tho'

well, from where we were standing, you were easily the best band that night.

not really, i sent the rough mixes and alt versions out to fans who wrote to us so i suppose a lot have been lost in the midst of time

oh well, i guess the cd-r will have to do!

cheers for taking the time to answer possibly the 2 dullest questions asked!

Arriving (fashionably?) late to the party here, but possibly missing the free drinks...

Hi Paul & Andie

Just wanted to say thanks for a great five or six years of my life! Not just the music, but the lovely people I met and subsequently went on to live with and do embarrassing stuff in the name of the "Mansun Family", like seeking out locations and recreating promo photos, and badly singing a bunch of Mansun covers at the 'fan convention' (both pictured here to embarrass those on this thread who are in the photos! great to see you all again). We were young, we didn't know better!

(click here for a whole album of Mansun fan pics!)

I don't really have a question, but haven't listened to Mansun in a while and this will spark my interest once again. Hope you're all doing well, and look forward to anything you may produce in the future...

Following this are the sounds of children playing, a harpsichord (?), a marching/military beat. A young boy/girl can be heard reciting some words (what are these, I’ve never been able to make them out?) The ocean. The album finally closes with what sounds like marching footsteps (are the really TB’s on the way back from the pub). Was this another ‘tie-up’ section?

i think the marching feet were the soldiers from buckingham palace, the tardis was tom baker leaving and the kid was reciting a childrens poem, all related to the record

Hi Paul, do you have any MP3s from the convention? I'd love to hear the covers again!

...... speak for yourself pup - if only I had that excuse! :?

Suzi, there were only ever some seriously ropey recordings to minidisc (ah ye olde days) for posterity. I believe I have Flourella knocking about somewhere. I should be taking handsome rewards for NOT finding it of course :D

Ah yes, minidiscs, I remember those. Of course, nobody has the ability to play minidiscs any more I'm hoping, so we'll all just have to remember how good it was.

If it's any help I have a Minidisc netdisc player which means you can transfer stuff from Minidisc on to a PC. I'd be happy to help getting stuff across if you want!

That part of the blog made me laugh so much, I nearly fell off me chair.
The thing is though, Paul sounded so pissed off at the whole situation as well.....aww bless him, he's so funny.
